We are absolutely buzzing with excitement here at Wedding Dress Me. Can you guess why? That's right! It's engagement season! Some lovebirds have gotten engaged during the Christmas season among friends and family while others might have the question popped to them over a romantic candlelight dinner on Valentine's Day. Either way, we cannot wait to help you plan your special day. While we can help you with your wedding gown, tuxedo, and formal wear needs, we'd also love to assist you in your wedding planning with some helpful tips and guides. Planning a wedding can be terrifying. It can be hectic, time consuming, and expensive. But whether you have an enormous budget and a grand ceremony in mind or want to have an intimate wedding celebration on a shoestring, there are tons of resources at your disposal to create your perfect wedding. Here are a few of our favorites.
- First things first: You need a guide.
Wedding planning can feel a bit overwhelming. So much to arrange and set up and place deposits on. Having a simple checklist based on a 12-16 month engagement takes a lot of guesswork out of making wedding arrangements. We've found that the wedding checklist from Here Comes the Guide is clear, organized, and incredibly helpful. Click here to grab the printable version of the guide.
- You've got the guide. Now to sketch out your dream wedding.
This is when things can get a little frustrating but don't fret. Grab a pen and paper, crack open a bottle of wine, and sit down with your future spouse. Talk out what you both want for your big day. How many guests? What kind of venue? What colors? What theme? What time of year? All this doesn't have to be addressed in a single conversation but having the big questions figured out first will make planning the little things a lot easier. Don't be afraid to express what you want but also be willing to compromise. Marriage is a partnership and both sides have to be willing to sacrifice. Planning a wedding is just practice for that. Helpful hint: things can get a little jumbled in conversation. A good idea is to create a "wedding planning" board on Pinterest or create a free account on The Knot. It will lay everything out in an organized way and save you both a lot of headaches.
- You know what you want and how you want it. How do we get there?
You've talked everything out with your future spouse. Fabulous. Now to get everything in motion. Using your handy dandy guide, you can start making arrangement on your own or, if that seems like too daunting of a task, with a wedding planner. Even enlisting the help of a wedding planner can seem a little tough. How do you know what to look for? Luckily the good folks over at the Wedding Lovely blog have put together a super informative guide that breaks down types of wedding planners and even some important questions to ask them. Check that out here.
- Now you're cooking with gas! You have your guide, tons of ideas, and maybe even a wedding planner. What next?
he fun stuff, of course! Time to hunt down the perfect venue, take some engagement photos, and let everyone know the good news. You're about to embark on the biggest and best journey of your life with the one you love! Celebrate! It's going to be a lot of work planning the wedding and getting everything into place and that's okay. Because, at the end of the ceremony, you get to walk away with the person you're going to spend the rest of your life with.
